Chapter 1 - Catcher 1. Who is D.B.? What does he do for a living? Where does he live?

D.B. is Holden's older brother. D. B. is a screen writer in Hollywood, CA.

Chapter 2 - Catcher 3. What did Mr. Spencer make Holden listen to? Why? How did this make Holden feel?

He made Holden listen to his essay on the Egyptians, which demonstrated he knew absolutely nothing. Holden was annoyed with Mr. Spencer.

Chapter 2 - Catcher 4. While Holden was "shooting the bull" with Old Spencer, he began to drift off and think about something else. What did he begin to think about (explain in depth).

Holden began thinking about what happens to the ducks in Central Park when the lagoon freezes over.

Holden passed English.

Holden said he left because he was surrounded by phonies. Mr. Haas, the headmaster, would only talk to the attractive parents and ignore the corny or fat parents.

Holden was the manager of the fencing team and went to New York City for a meet.

Holden wasn't returning after Christmas because he was kicked out because he failed four classes.

Holden went to Pencey Prep, in Agerstown, PA. The motto is "Since 1888 we have been molding boys into splendid, clear thinking young men."

Holden went to visit Mr. Spencer, his history teacher.

Chapter 2 - Catcher 6. Why did Holden say he would never forgive Mr. Spencer?

Mr. Spencer wished him "Good Luck" for life, which he found depressing.

Chapter 2 - Catcher 1. Why did Holden think it was "depressing" in Old Spencer's room?

The room had medicine all over it. It smelled like Vicks nose drops, and Mr. Spencer looked nasty in his bathrobe.

Chapter 1 - Catcher 4. Why was the fencing team very upset with Holden?

The team was upset with Holden because he left the team equipment on the subway and they couldn't have their meet.
