What is the linear model of communication?
Sender -> channel -> receiver; one way process.
What is the transactional model of communication?
An ongoing, circular process; communicator gives message, listener gives feedback (which is affected by his or her worldview), all is contextual/situational, there is outside noise.
What are at least three reasons why public speaking is important?
Builds self confidence; important in personal life for toasts, eulogies, and awards; most professions can benefit from skills required for public speaking; employers look for people who can communicate clearly; allows you to understand and participate in public dilemmas (politics).

anything that interferes with the message transmission or the encoding/decoding process
