Alternative Assessments
A variety of methods other than tests to assess student learning.
Informed Assessment
Assessing student learning through content or performance rather than data
Scorecard
lists the characteristics or factors to use when evaluating learning
Student Portfolio
A collection of a student's work selected to show growth over time, highlight skills and achievements, or to show how well the student meets standards.
Rubric
A scoring tool that lists the criteria for judging a particular type of work.
Checklist
A simple list of items to note, check, or to remember when evaluating learning
Summative Assessment
An evaluation of students learning after instruction has taken place
Formative Assessment
An ongoing part of instruction that provides feedback about students' learning as it occurs.
Mentor Teachers
Beginning teachers are often assigned these experienced and skilled teaches to assess and improve their skill.
Course Evaluation
Making judgement about how well a course meets its standards or goals and what would make it better.
Peer Evaluation
Students assessment of each other's learning
Self-Evaluation
Students assessment of their own learning.
