Chapter 2 Cells, Tissue , Organs and Systems
How are tissue form?
A tissue is formed when like cells are grouped together and function together to perform a specific activity.
The study of cells and their functions is called?
Cytology cyt/o = cell logy =study of
What is the study of tissue ?
Histology hist/o = tissue logy = study of
What are System composed of
System is composed of serveral organs working in a coordinated manner to perform a xomplex function of functions.
How many type of tissue do the body have, and what are the name of the tissue?
The body has four type of tissue muscle tissue, epithelial tissue, connective tissue
example of connective tissue structure
bone provides structural support for the whole body. Cartilage is the sock absorber in joints. Tendons tightly connect skeletal muscles to bones. Adipose provides protective padding around body structures
what are cardiac muscle
cardiac muscle if found in only in the heart
The human body is composed of
cells, tissues, organs, and systems.
what are the levels of the body arrangement
cells, tissues, organs, systems, body these components are arranged in a hierarchical manner.
connective tissue
connective tissue id the supporting and protecting tissue in body structures, it performs many different functions depending on it location.
what is epithelial tissue
epithelial tissue, or epithelium, is found throughout the body and is composed of close-packed cells that form the covering for lining of body structures.
what is the purpose of epithelial tissue
in addition to forming a protective barrier, epithelial tissue may be specialized to absorb substance (such as nutrients from the intestine), secrete substances (such as sweet glands), or excrete wastes (such as the kidney tubules)
What do muscle tissue produce and what is it composed of?
muscle tissue produces movement in the body through contraction, or shortening in length, and is composed of individual muscle cells called muscle fiber
What is Nervous Tissue
nervous tissue is composed of cells called neurons. This tissue forms the brain, spinal cord, and network of nerves throughout the entire body
What do all Cell have , at some point during their life cycle
nucleus, cytoplasm, and cell membrane
What are Organs composed of
organs are composed of several different types of tissue that work as a unit to perform special functions.
what are skelteal muscle
skeletal muscle is attached to bone
muscle tissue forms one of three basic types of muscles what are the 3 tissue
skeletal muscle, smooth muscle or cardiac muscle
what are smooth muscle
smooth muscle is found in internal organs such as the intestine, uterus, or blood vessels
arrangement of the body
the body is organized into levels, each is built from the one below it. In other words the body as a whole is composed of systems , a system is composed of organs, an organ is composed of tissues, and tissues are composed of cells.
What is a cell?
the cell is the fundamental unit of all living things. That is to say, it is the smallest structure of a body that has all the properties of being alive; responding to stimuli, engaging in metabolic activities, and reproducing itself.
