Explain the 4 quadrants of Time Management.
The four quadrants of time management are as follows: Quadrant 1; These are the things in life that are urgent and important, such as crisis, meetings and deadlines. These things have to be dealt with right away and are very important to you and things to come. Quadrant 2 are things that are urgent, but not important. This is actually the most important and critical quadrant because it contains things like planning, preparation, prevention and strategies. Things in this quadrant do not have to be done right this very second, however it is very important that they do get done. If they do not get done, it can adversely affect your lively hood and things in your future. Quadrant 3 are things that are urgent but not important such as projects, some meetings, interruptions and emails. Things in this quadrant take up a lot of our time. In this phase there are things that we may feel like are very important, but they really arent. This is also known as the deception phase. In quadrant 4 there are things we do to escape, such as surfing the internet, Facebook, wasting time and escaping activites that we should be doing in the other 3 quadrants, especially number 2. Too much time spent in quadrant 1, will most likely lead us to spending too much time in quadrant 4 in order to relax. The majority of our time needs to be spent in quadrant 2, so we can properly plan our time and lives in order to overall spend less time in quadrants 1 and 4.
