Computer Hardware
Hard Drive
A hard disk drive is a device for storing and retrieving digital information, primarily computer data. It consists of one or more rigid rapidly rotating discs, coated with magnetic material and with magnetic heads arranged to write data to the surfaces and read it from them.
Netbook
A low-end, inexpensive laptop with a small 9 or 10 inch screen and no optical drive that is generally used for web browsing, email, and word processing by users on the go.
Power Supply
A power supply unit (PSU) converts mains AC to low-voltage regulated DC power for the internal components of the computer.
Processor
A processor is a primary chip inside a computer and it contains the digital circuitry. A processor executes all the programs and the instructions inside the computer.
USB
Acronym for the Universal Serial Bus, an interface connection to a personal computer. USB speech recognition headsets and microphones bypass the sound card and input speech more directly and with less distortion into a computer processor.
Optical Drive
An optical drive is a device that uses a laser to read or write information on a disc.
LED Monitor
ED Monitor: Led monitor is the new version of LCD monitor, which uses LEDsto illuminate the display.LED monitor use LED backlight replacing the standardcold cathode fluorescent lamps which was used in LCD monitor.
Ethernet Cable
Ethernet cables connect network devices such as modems, routers, and adapters. They transmit data using the Ethernet protocol.
LCD Monitor
LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display, referring to the technology behind these popular flat panel monitors. An LCD monitor is distinguishable from a traditional CRT monitor as the latter has a bulky footprint with a depth of several inches and a weight of 30 - 50 pounds.LCD displays were used on laptop computers before the technology improved enough to make the jump to desktop monitors.
Firewire
cable, also known as IEEE-1394, that carries digital video signals, which include audio, video, and control (stop, start, etc.) signals
Solid State Drive
A solid-state drive (SSD), sometimes called a solid-state disk or electronic disk, is a data storage device that uses solid-state memory to store persistent data with the intention of providing access in the same manner of a traditional block i/o hard disk drive.
CRT Monitor
CRT stands for cathode ray tube, describing the technology inside an analog computer monitor or television set. A CRT monitor or TV is readily recognizable by its bulky form.
RAM
Random access memory (RAM) is a form of computer data storage.
Chassis
The outer structural framework of a piece of audio, radio, or computer equipment.
Periphials
an input device or secondary storage device. NOT part of the CPU
Motherboard
motherboard is the central printed circuit board (PCB) in many modern computers and holds many of the crucial components of the system, providing connectors for other peripherals.
Tablet Computer
portable computing device featuring touch screen used as a drawing or writing pad
