after candidates finished their exams before Christmas, the went to the officers club for a meal of bratwurst, potatoes, and cabbage. Then without a break, drink a liter of beer out of their combat helmet. if they failed they had to buy a keg for the training officers

served on eastern front. Wounded in the right leg at Mius river after my tank was hit. Then I was shot in the leg and the arm at the second battle of targu. Left for the hospital before the end of the war
