Inequality

Inequality. Definition 1: Any of the symbols <, >, ≤, or ≥. Definition 2: A mathematical sentence built from expressions using one or more of the symbols <, >, ≤, or ≥. Examples: x + y < 1.

Set notation

Set notation is a precise way of describing which items belong in a set and which do not. Specific symbols are used in set notation.

End behavior

The end behavior of a polynomial function is the behavior of the graph of f(x) as x approaches positive infinity or negative infinity. The degree and the leading coefficient of a polynomial function determine the end behavior of the graph.

Domain

the set of possible values of the independent variable or variables of a function.

Range

the set of values that a given function can take as its argument varies.

Interval

A notation for representing an interval as a pair of numbers. The numbers are the endpoints of the interval. Parentheses and/or brackets are used to show whether the endpoints are excluded or included.
