producer

organisms make their own food through photosynthesis

decomposer

these organisms breakdown the remains of dead organisms or animal wastes and absorb the nutrients

Eukaryotes

An organism made up of cells that have a nucleus enclosed by a membrane: eukaryotes include protists, animals, plants, and fungi but NOT archaea or bacteria

8 levels of classification

Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species

Kingdom Animalia

They are eukaryotic. That means they are complex multi-cellular organisms whose cells have a nucleus. THEY DO NOT PRODUCE THEIR OWN FOOD. They are CONSUMERS! They have to move to get their food. Have a nervous system that allows them to sense and respond to their environment.

Kingdom Plantae

They are eukaryotic. That means they are complex multi-cellular organisms. Usually green. Have cell walls. They cannot move. They produce their own food. They use the suns's energy to make sugar through the process of photosynthesis.

consumer

They eat producers or other organisms for energy.

Domain Eukarya

This domain is made up of all eukaryotes, (protists, animals, plants and fungi). Some can be single celled or simple multi-cellular such as protists. Most are multi-cellular. All of these organisms cells have a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles.

Domain Archaea

This domain made up entirely of archaea. They are prokaryotes. Most live in extreme environments where most other organisms cannot survive. They are extremely small.

Kingdom Fungi

This kingdom is eukaryotic. They are complex, multi-cellular organisms whose cells have nucleus. THEY DO NOT MAKE THEIR OWN FOOD. They obtain their food by breaking down other substances in their surroundings and absorbing the nutrients. They are DECOMPOSERS!

Kingdom Protista

This kingdom is eukaryotic. They are single-celled or simple multi-cellular organisms. They have a nucleus. Some have animal-like characteristics and some have plant-like characteristics.

Prokaryotes

A single-celled organism that does not have a nucleus or membrane-bound organelles: examples are archaea and bacteria

Domain Bacteria

All bacteria belong to the domain bacteria. They are prokaryotes. This means they are single-celled with no nucleus. They are very common. Bacteria can be found in soil, water, and even inside the human body. Some are good and make chemicals to help the body fight disease causing bacteria. Some are bad and cause disease.
