"Kivéve áruszállítás"

"Except loading" ; for the purposes of loading and unloading of cargo, entry is allowed despite of the "No goods vehicles" sign.

"Kivéve célforgalom"

"Except local access" ; the vehicle which has its destination in the affected section of road may enter despite the instructions of the sign.

"Private road" sign

"Magánút" sign means that the road is closed from the public, and the rules of KRESZ are valid there depending on the decision of the manager of the road. This sign may only be set up along with the "No entry from both directions" sign.

"Mandatory stop" Driving on without stopping at the indicated place is prohibited. The inscription on the sign gives the reason for the obligation to stop.

"No entry from both directions" The sign means that entry from either direction is prohibited. In case your destination is at a road marked with this sign, you will have to park your car and reach your destination on foot.

"Road closure" Police has closed the road - with use of equipment stopping vehicles - to prevent vehicular traffic from proceeding.

Advance hazard warning lines These lines show that drivers should expect a speed limit or mandatory stop.

"Road narrowing"

As compared to the width of the previous section of road, the road is narrowing down considerably as shown on the pictogram.

"No entry"

Entry into the one-way road from this direction is prohibited.

Kornyezet zona

Environmental Protection Zone; The sign means that the traffic of motor vehicles in the zone is prohibited until the "End of environmental protection" zone. The manager of the road may provide exemption from under this rule. So an associated plate may have the "Except with permission" (in Hungarian: "Kivéve engedéllyel") inscription.

Weight limit in relation with the prohibition of overtaking.

If there is a weight shown on the sign, that means that the prohibition of overtaking refers only to vehicles - goods vehicles, tractors, agricultural tractors and slow-moving vehicles - that have a greater than indicated Gross Vehicle Weight.

In greater cities it may happen that because of traffic congestion ahead, you are not able to cross the junction on the green light. If you see this, do not even start: by becoming "stuck" in the junction, you would obstruct crossing traffic.

The "Box junction" road marking draws your attention to this possibility.

The "Restricted speed zone" sign; it limits speed only. If there are no other prohibitions, you are allowed to stop and park in the zone, what's more, you may even overtake if you stay within the speed limit. "End of restricted speed zone" . Driving on the road at a speed higher than indicated is prohibited until passing "End of restricted zone" sign.

"Slippery road"

The carriageway may become extremely slippery.

The traffic light facilitating the free passing of the tram traversing the road (or traffic lanes) and emergency vehicles flashing their blue lights and siren, consists of two lenses.

The one top is of red colour, the one below is yellow. The colours of these lights is the following: flashing yellow, continuous yellow, then red.

Minimum separation distance (red rim white circle w two ends of cars a certain distance away from each other)

The sign means that keeping a smaller separation distance than shown is prohibited. The sign doesn't prohibit overtaking.

The sign means that the entry of goods vehicles, tractors, agricultural tractors and slow-moving vehicles exceeding the maximum weight shown on the sign is prohibited until the "End of the restricted zone" sign. In case the "Restricted zone" sign is accompanied by the "Beginning of built-up area" sign, its scope extends to the whole settlement (built-up area).

"No vehicle over height shown"

The sign means that vehicles (including their cargo) that are higher than shown on the sign are prohibited from entering the road.

"No vehicles over width shown" sign

The sign means that vehicles (including their cargo) that are wider than shown on the sign are prohibited from entering the road.

"No vehicles over maximum weight shown"

The sign means that vehicles (vehicle combinations) of greater Gross Vehicle Weight than shown are prohibited from entering the road.

"No vehicle over length shown"

The sign means that vehicles including their cargo (or vehicle combinations) that are longer than shown on the sign are prohibited from entering the road.

"Axle load limit"

The sign means that vehicles with a higher load on any of their axles than shown are prohibited from entering the road.

"Blind summit"

The sign show that visibility on the road is restricted because of the terrain.

If the place of agricultural activity can only be reached through this road, then the entry of the following vehicles is allowed despite the prohibition:

agricultural tractors, slow-moving vehicles, agricultural power machines, as well as a combination of these vehicles. The entry of these vehicles is also allowed if the workplace can only be reached with a detour of over 50% longer. A further precondition is that these vehicles must not endanger the safety of people or property and should not cause significant obstruction to the traffic.

If you see a full green light upon crossing the junction that allows you free passing and there is no sign determining the direction for you to continue, you ...

may continue driving ahead, left or right - while naturally also obeying the rules of turning.

no overtaking with goods vehicles; This sign means that overtaking with a goods vehicle of over 3500 kgs gross vehicle weight (GVW), tractors, agricultural tractors and slow-moving vehicles is prohibited. (doesn't refer to the overtaking of two wheeled motorcycles, mopeds and pedal cycles as well as animal-drawn vehicles and handcarts and the overtaking (from the right) of a tram travelling on the tracks in the middle of the carriageway.)

If the associated plate below the following regulatory signs bears the symbol of a bus and/or pedal cycle, that means that

the prohibition shown doesn't refer to buses running on regular schedule and/or pedal cycles. The prohibition naturally refers to drivers of all other vehicles.

The scope of various signs indicating "zones" extends

to the end of the zones. The scope of a speed limit sign that is accompanied by a "Beginning of built-up area" sign is only lifted by the "End of built-up area" sign, i.e. its scope is not invalidated by a junction or a sign.

The arrow shaped green supplementary light pointing right allows

turning right in a small radius.

In spite of the prohibition, motor vehicles are allowed to overtake the following:

two wheeled motorcycles, mopeds, pedal cycles, animal-drawn vehicles, and handcarts. In addition to the above, all vehicles are allowed to overtake the tram travelling in the middle of the road.
