Equations
Literal equation
An equation with 2 or more types of variables: Example: y = 2x + 1 This equation is solved for 'y'. When you solve a literal equation, there will be a variable in the answer.
Equivalent equations
Equations that have the same solution(s).
Solution
The solution to an equation is a value that makes the equation true Example: In the equation 2 + x = 4 The solution is 2, because 2 +2 =4
Inverse operations
Two operations that undo each other: (addition and subtraction)(multiplication and division) (exponents and roots)
Idenity equation
"Infinite solutions" or "infinitely many solutions". When an equation is true for all values Example: 2x - 3 = 2x - 3
