Many Adolescence's have a difficult time during this period. They are very confused, and unsure of who they are, or where they belong. what are they experiencing?
Role Confusion.

Adolescence
12-20years. At this stage, it is all about finding out who you are, and mastering all the previous stages, so that you will have a secure sense of self. If you obtain this, you will obtain your self IDENTITY. if not, you will experience ROLE CONFUSION. hence, Identity vs Role confusion
Early Childhood
18months - 3 years. The early child, must develop some sort of self control and independence within his/her environment, which will lead to AUTONOMY. if not the early child will experience SHAME AND DOUBT in itself. Hence, Autonomy vs shame and doubt
Young Adult
20-30years. At this stage, you will be searching to obtain a long lasting and intimate relationship to a person, commitment, or your job. if you do this, you will experience INTIMACY, IF NOT ISOLATION. Hence, Intimacy vs Isolation.
Late Childhood
3-6years. The late child must develop a sense of purpose in her/his environment, and be able to direct his/her own activities. This will lead to them taking INITIATIVE in their own lives, instead of experiencing GUILT. Hence, Initiative vs Guilt.
Adulthood
30 - 65years. At this stage, you will hopefully be experiencing GENERATIVITY, by being happy and content and giving back to their loved ones, if not, they will experience STAGNATION. Hence, Generativity vs Stagnation.
School age
6-12years. The school age child must achieve a sense of self-confidence, by competing, learning, performing successfully. This will lead to developing INDUSTRY, if not the school age child will experience INFERIORITY among their peers and significant others. Hence, Industry vs Inferiority.
Old Age
65 years - to Death. At this stage, the Elder will either experience EGO INTEGRITY, by looking back on ones life with meaning throughout their positive and negative experiences. If not the Elder, will have DESPAIR about their life, and will have regrets. Hence Ego Integrity vs Despair.

Infancy
Birth - 18 months. The infant must develop TRUST at this stage. If not the infant will experience MISTRUST. Hence Trust v Mistrust.
Carol is 48. She has just sent off 3 beautiful children to college, which she is helping them financially in their studies. Carol is also helping her Husbands Parents, by moving them into the granny suite. Carol is experiencing the Sand which generation, being pulled and pushed by her children and her in laws demands. Carol is experiencing Generativity. She is giving back to her children by helping support them throughout their educational endeavors. She is also supporting her In-laws and helping them in their final years.
