Genesis 3 (Adam and Eve continued)
A serpent which god creates approaches Adam and Eve and says...
"Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
God then goes to Eve, and punishes her. Punishment:
"I will make your pains in childbearing very severe, with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband and he will rule over you."
God then goes to Eve and asks why she ate from the tree. She says:
"The serpent deceived me, and I ate."
God asks Adam why he ate from the tree. Adam says:
"The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it."
Eve says to the serpent:
"We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, or you will die.'"
God then goes to the serpent, and punishes him. Punishment:
"You will crawl on your belly, and you will eat dust all the days of your life."
The serpent replies back to Eve:
"You will not certainly die, for God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
God then goes to Adam, and punishes him. Punishment:
Adam now has to grow the food he eats, and has to work hard with his own blood and sweat.
Eve realizes this and...
Eats from the tree. She is with Adam, and Adam eats from the tree too.
After eating from the tree...
The eyes of Adam and Eve were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
God banishes man from Eden..
This is now the start of civilization.
God appears, and...
realizes Adam and Eve ate from the tree.
Adam names wife "Eve" because...
she is the mother of all living.
