A registry is a systematic collection of data specific to a type of disease, exposure to hazardous substances or events, or trauma and treatment. Three examples- Cancer registry, Agent Orange registry, Implanted medical devices registry.

A set of predetermined data that is obtained from the patient record and related sources. The data items collected because of their relevance to the disease or condition addressed in the registry are prepared for each case and then form the information included in the databse.

All organization's patients diagnosed or treated for active diseases on or after the beginning of the registry are eligible for inclusion.

Comparing an organization's performance against organizations that have been identified as excellent. It is a commonly used tool for gathering data and identifying ways to improve processes and initiate change at all operational levels.
What is the difference between an epidemiologic case definition and a clinical case definition?
Epidemiologic case definition is a reportable condition by the CDC and must be reported to the public health agency. Clinical case definition is a list of signs and symptoms that establish a clinical diagnosis. This list does not need to be reported to the public health agency.
What is the purpose of case finding in terms of a registry?
It is the method by which all of the eligible cases to be included in the registry are identified, accessioned into the registry, and abstracted.

Systems that provide diagnostic investigation tools and clinical guideline advice to patient care providers. Basic clinical decision support provides computerized advice regarding drug doses, routes, and frequencies, and more sophisticated CDSSs can perform drug allergy checks, drug-laboratory value checks, and drug-drug interaction checks and can provide reminders about corollary orders.

The purpose of the hospital cancer data system is to collect and maintain information on every patient with cancer from the initial date of diagnosis or treatment until death. It furnishes the health care team with outcome data that enables them to see the results of their diagnostic and therapeutic efforts and provide them with the tools to improve patient care.
