The cottonocracy (planters), yeomen, and poor whites were the three main groups of the white southern society. Free African Americans and slaves made up the rest of society.

They were similar, because both groups were free, and they could both get jobs. They were different, because whites were treated better, and did not face discrimination.

What were positive and negative results of the Cotton Boom in the South? (4)

Positive results of the Cotton Boom was it lead to a better economy, and they could sell more cotton. Negative results of the Cotton Boom was there was a demand for slaves, and there was a reliance on one industry.

What could be some possible results of stronger slave codes in the South? (3)

Possible results of strengthening slave codes was limiting the rights of free African Americans, harsher treatment, and expansion of slavery.
