Advertising is the public promotion of a product or service. ~Ads appear on television, radio, newspapers, magazines, billboards, movie theaters, internet pop-ups ~ADs can let you know what products and services are available, but they rarely provide the information you need to make wise choices.

1.3 Action Plan-

After setting goals, you can develop an Action Plan- a series of specific steps you can take to achieve the goal.

Another part of your heredity is your Gender- whether you are male or female.

As a consumer, you have the right to information, the right to consumer protection by government agencies, and the right to complain.

Culture is the beliefs and patterns of behavior that are shared by a group of people and passed from generation to generation.

Emotional Health refers to how you react to events in your life.

Environment, media, technology, healthcare, and behavior are factors other than heredity that can influence your health.

1.4 Fraud-

Fraud is if a person tells lies to obtain money or property.

1.1 Health-

Health refers to the overall well-being of your body, your mind, and your relationships with other people.

1.2 What does the term heredity mean?

Heredity is the traits that are biologically passed from parent to child.

1.1 Life Expectancy-

Life Expectancy is the number of years a person can expect to live.

1.1 Why are both life expectancy and quality of life used to evaluate overall health?

Life expectancy is simply how long you live based on the several aspects of your health. However, quality of life, how you spend your life and the degree of satisfaction that a person gets from life, is just as important as how long you live. Is living long worth it in the end if you did not live happily?

Media are forms of communication that provide news and entertainment

1.4 How can you avoid health fraud?

People can avoid health fraud by carefully evaluating the claims made about a treatment or product, such as: does the result seem too good to be true, is it said to cure many different ailments, are there "secret" or "special" ingredients.

1.4 Quackery-

People who sell useless medical treatments or products are engaged in health fraud, or Quackery.

Physical Health refers to how well your body functions, which includes: ~healthy diet, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and proper medical and dental care

Prevention is taking action to avoid disease, injury, and other negative health outcomes.

Quality of Life is the degree of overall satisfaction that a person gets from life. High quality of life can be a person's goal.

Social Health refers to how well you get along with others.

Someone with Health Literacy has the ability to gather, understand, and use health information to improve his or her health.

1.1 How are the choices people make related to their positions on the health continuum?

The aspects of illness and wellness greatly feed into each other. If you have low energy, you will not exercise, which in turn may make you feel bad. If you feel poor, you could gather a negative outlook on life. However, if even if you feel tired, but you begin to exercise anyway, you will work yourself onto the wellness extreme. Because you are exercising, you feel well, and have more enthusiasm for life.

The goals are to increase the years of healthy life for each American, and eliminate differences in health based on race, ethnic group, or income.

The skill of Advocacy involves using communication to influence and support others in making positive health decisions.

1.1 Mental Health-

The state of being comfortable with yourself, with others, and with your surroundings is called Mental Health.

There are three steps that help you meet your personal health goals, such as: gaining awareness, gaining knowledge, and building skills.

1.1 What are the three aspects of health?

There is physical, mental and emotional, as well as social health.

1.2 Heredity-

To some extent, your level of health is already determined when you were born. Your Heredity is all of the traits that are passed biologically from parent to child. Even if you inherit a risk factor, you can lower your overall risk by avoiding other risk factors.

1.3 Values-

Values are the standards and beliefs that are most important to you.

1.1 Wellness-

Wellness is a state of high-level health.

1.4 In general what do you need to do when you evaluate a service or information?

When evaluating a service, you need to determine whether the person who will perform the services is qualified. Does this person have the required degree, license, or certification are things you may ask yourself, as well the references this person may or may not have, or if this person has any complaints filed against your state's Attorney General.

1.2 Environment- physical environment- social environment-

~The Environment is all the physical and social conditions that surround a person and can influence that person's health. ~Your physical environment includes both your outdoor and indoor surrounds. Being aware of potential risks in your physical environment can help you protect your health. ~Your social environment includes the people you spend time with- your family, friends, classmates, and other people in your community. Your social environment is healthier when you choose friends who show concern for their own health and yours.
