Ionic compound

Atoms that share electrons in a chemical bond have covalent bonds. An oxygen molecule (O2) is a good example of a molecule with a covalent bond. Ionic bonds occur when electrons are givenaway from one atom to another.

Ionic bonding

Ionic bonding usually occurs between atoms of metals and atoms of non-metals. Ionic bonds are formed between a cation, which is usually a metal, and an anion, which is usually a nonmetal. Covalent bonding occurs when pairs of electrons are shared by atoms.

Ionic bonds

Ionic bonds is a bond that forms when electrons is being transferred from one form to another form. which results in positive and negative ions.Ionic bonds form so that the outermost energy level of atoms are filled.

Forming negative ions

Some atoms like to gain electrons from another atom, during the chemical changes. negative ions most likely form when atom have more electrons than protons.

Ion

an atom or group of atoms that bring out a positive or negative electric charge as a result of having lost or gained one or more electrons. in this case of charge particles to bond, an atom usually can not gain electrons with out other atom giving out its electrons.

Forming positive ions

during chemical changes, an ionic bonding forms when atom give away its electrons from another atom. the atom that lose electrons form ions. because the positive charge outnumber the negative one.

Metals atom and the loss of electron

Metals like to lose valence electrons to form cations to have a fully stable octet. They absorb energy (endothermic) to lose electrons.

Nonmetals atom and Gain electron

Non-metal atoms gain an electron, or electrons, from another atom to become negatively charged ions.
