Epiglottis

Flap of cartridge that closes the windpipe. The main function of the epiglottis is to prevent foods and drinks from falling down the airway. The epiglottis is located at the entrance of the larynx. The opening between the vocal folds is known as glottis and the epiglottis works as a tight seal on the glottis.

Diaphragm

Chest of muscle with a central radon. The diaphragm contracts and relaxes during inhalation and exhalation so as to accommodate and expel air from the body.

Bronchus

Ribbed tube with rings it cartilage leading into each lung. The main function of the bronchus is to allow the passage of air through it. The bronchus is also known to help in the prevention of infection by preventing pathogens from going further into the lungs.

Bronchiole

The main function of the bronchiole is to allow the passage of air freely into the lungs. Besides allowing air to pass, the bronchioles also prevent infections. There are a lot of diseases of the bronchi which can cause breathing problems.

Alveoli

The microscopic are one cell thick and there are millions of them. . The main function of the alveoli is storage of air for a shorter period which permits absorption of oxygen into the blood. The gaseous exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide typically takes place in the alveoli.

Trachea

The trachea, commonly known as the windpipe, is a tube about 4 inches long and less than an inch in diameter in most people.

Lungs

This are a pair of oval organs. Your lungs are organs in your chest that allow your body to take in oxygen from the air. They also help remove carbon dioxide. From your body. The respiratory system is a group of organs and tissues that help you breathe.
