We have talked about several trends in education. Which trend do you believe limits teachers and students, and which trend will help increase student achievement over the coming years. Make sure you answer why and provide an example for each area.

I think a trend that limits students and teachers is accountability in the classroom. While accountability can be a great thing, I think that using standardized tests can limit education. For example, if a standardized test is coming up, a teacher may not be functioning at their best ability if they are worried about losing their job (testing scores can affect teachers jobs). Also, if a student is worried about their score affecting their future, they may not function to the best of their ability. A trend that I think will increase student achievement is diversity. I believe that if diversity is talked about more and people learn more about it, students will be able to achieve more. I think a lot of educators do not understand that students are diverse and it causes problems in the classroom. For example, behavioral problems can occur if a teacher is interacting with a student in a way that is unfamiliar and disrespectful in that child's culture. ???
