My Role In The EMS System
What are 4 fears or concerns that can cause a person to hesitate to respond in an emergency.
1. Being uncertain that an emergency actually exists. 2. Being afraid of giving the wrong care or fear of causing the person harm. 3. Fear of catching a disease. 4. Fear of being sued.
My role in the EMS system includes 4 basic steps which are.....
1. Recognizing that an emergency exists 2. Deciding to take action 3. Activating the EMS system 4. Giving care until EMS personnel takes over
Individuals have received additional training to perform advanced life support skills and can administer some medications at the scene of an emergency.
Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians ( AEMT's )
Individuals include police officers, fire fighters, ski patrol personnel, park rangers and athletic trainers.
Emergency Medical Responders ( EMR's )

Individuals are qualified to provide more comprehensive basic life support in addition to performing the duties of an EMR.
Emergency Medical technicians ( EMT's )
Individuals are trained to give the highest level of advanced medical care at the scene of an emergency, administer medications and provide advanced airway support.
