Food insecurity
• Eliminate very low food security among children. • Reduce household food insecurity and, in doing so, reduce hunger.
Food and nutrient consumption
• Increase the contribution of fruits to the diets of the population age 2 years and older. • Increase the variety and contribution of vegetables to the diets of the population age 2 years and older. • Increase the contribution of whole grains to the diets of the population age 2 years and older. • Reduce consumption of calories from added sugars in the population age 2 years and older. • Reduce consumption of saturated fat in the population age 2 years and older. • Reduce consumption of sodium in the population age 2 years and older. • Increase consumption of calcium in the population age 2 years and older. • Increase consumption of potassium in the population age 2 years and older. • Increase consumption of vitamin D in the population age 2 years and older. • Increase the proportion of women of childbearing age who have optimal red blood cell folate concentrations.
Healthcare and work site settings
• Increase the proportion of primary care physicians who regularly measure the body mass index (BMI) of their patients. • Increase the proportion of physician office visits made by adult patients who are obese that include counseling or education related to weight reduction, nutrition, or physical activity.
Healthier food access
• Reduce household food insecurity and, in doing so, reduce hunger. • Eliminate very low food security among children. • Increase the proportion of schools that do not sell less healthy foods and beverages. • Increase the proportion of students participating in the School Breakfast Program. • Increase the proportion of worksites that offer a nutrition program as part of an employee health promotion program
Iron deficiency
• Reduce iron deficiency among young children and females of childbearing age.
Weight status
• Reduce the proportion of adults with obesity. • Reduce the proportion of children and adolescents with obesity. • Increase the proportion of women delivering a live birth who had a healthy weight prior to pregnancy.
