P-Values
A large p- values relationship with type II errors?
A large p-value means we have little evidence against the Null, leading us to fail to reject Ho. Increasing the chance of making a type I error.
What is a p-value?
A p-value is the probability of seeing a simple statistic value as extreme or more extreme than the one observed in the sample, if the null hypothesis is true.
Significance Level and P-Value (2)
If the p-value > the significance level we cannot conclude Ha and we fail to reject Ho.
A small p-values relationship with type I errors?
The smaller the p-value the stronger the evidence against the null and the smaller the chance of making a type I error.
Significance Level and P-value (1)
If the p-value is less than or equal to the significance level we conclude Ha is proven and Ho is rejected.
A small p-value provides what kind of evidence against the null?
The closer the p-value is to zero the stronger the evidence is against the null hypothesis leading us to reject the null hypothesis.
What does the p-value summarize?
The p-value summarizes the evidence provided by the sample against the null hypothesis.
