Parts of the Cell
Microfilaments
fine, threadlike proteins found in the cell's cytoskeleton
Lysosomes
An organelle containing digestive enzymes
Cilila
Makes up cell strcuture (Combined with Flagella)
Flagella
Makes up cell structure (Combined with Cilia)
Mitochondria
Powerhouse of the cell, organelle that is the site of ATP (energy) production
Endoplasmic Recticulum
a cell structure that forms a maze of passageways in which proteins and other marerials are carried from one part of the cell to another
Cytoskeleton
a microscopic network of actin filaments and microtubules in the cytoplasm of many living cells that gives the cell shape and coherence
Nucleus
a part of the cell containing DNA and RNA and responsible for growth and reproduction
Nucleolus
a small round body of protein in a cell nucleus
Cell Wall
a thin membrane around the cytoplasm of a cell
Plasma Membrane
a thin membrane around the cytoplasm of a cell
Vacuole
a tiny cavity filled with fluid in the cytoplasm of a cell
Chlorophyll
any of a group of green pigments found in photosynthetic organisms
Plastid
any of various small particles in the cytoplasm of the cells of plants and some animals containing pigments or starch or oil or protein
Microtubules
hollow tubes of protein about 25 nanometers in diameter, support the cell and moves organelles within the cell
Centriole
one of two small cylindrical cell organelles composes of 9 triplet microtubules
Chloroplast
organelles that capture the energy from sunlight and convert it into chemical energy in a process called photosynthesis, plastid containing chlorophyll and other pigments
Ribosome
small particle in the cell on which proteins are assembled; made of RNA and protein
Cytoplasm
the protoplasm of a cell excluding the nucleus
Chromatin
the readily stainable substance of a cell nucleus consisting of DNA and RNA and various proteins
Spindle
(biology) tiny fibers that are seen in cell division
Golgi Apparatus
a net-like structure in the cytoplasm of animal cells (especially in those cells that produce secretions)
