Define a certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). What qualities are needed to make an ATC successful?
A health care professional who collaborates with the sports medicine team to optimize the activity of participation in patients. The qualities that are needed to make an ATC successful include focuses on prevention, recognition, evaluation, rehabilitation and care for injuries associated with the sport.
What dictates an athletic trainer's "normal" workday?
A normal day for an athletic trainer is probably working on prevention, looking for any athletes that could be hurt, and providing treatment (exercises) to those are hurt.

Athletes have a right to be coached by well trained individuals and have a safe playing environment
Describe the benefits local associations provide to athletic trainers.
Athletic trainers can also work on things a physical therapist may work on and they have the tools right with them instead of having to drive out.
How is the athletic trainer certified or licensed?
By earning a degree from ATEP, and passing the BOC ecam. And they have to maintain CEUs
Explain liability issues pertaining to athletic trainers.
If they are doing an act of omission/commission and by that are failing to use reasonable care. Such as an athletic trainer sees an athlete fall in the middle of a run and seem to not be able to get up. If he fails to help at his job which is to diagnose and get help ASAP then he is doing an act of omission. Where as if he helps but he purposely breaks the athletes leg, that is an act commission... and assault.
What are the primary skills required for athletic training? What five do you feel are the most important?
Prevention, recognition and evaluation, immediate emergency care, treatment and rehabilitation, organization administration, professional responsibilities. The ones I feel are most important are Recognition and evaluation, immediate emergency care, treatment and rehabilitation, prevention, and professional responsibilities.
W1. hat other career paths are available to athletic trainers?
They can work in schools, help with clinics, hospitals, work in performing arts, help with government and military, and help on industrial occupational areas.
What education is needed to be an athletic trainer? What other experiences would be helpful?
They have to earn a degree from a certified athletic trainer program (ATEP). The experiences that would be helpful is clinical education that focuses around injury illness prevention, first aid, assessment of injury, human anatomy, therapeutic modalities, and nutrition.
Athhletic trainers must adhere to a strict code of conduct. Why is this so important?
With out this strict code of conduct they can end up hurting people or doing a job that they were not suppose to do.
