Theme Definition:

The main idea or an underlying meaning of a literary work, such as Love, Conflict, Betrayal and Responsibility.

Theme: Conflict

Usually when two groups or parties have conflicting interests, this may cause conflict such as in the Secret river. However in an .I.C has conflict between the classes of society.

Theme: Sexaulity

In A view from the bridge, the protagonist Eddie acuses Rodolpho of being a homosexual and he also suffers from not being to confront his own feelings to Cathrine.

Theme: Betrayal

In A.V.F.T.B Eddie betrays Beatrices cousins by calling the immigration and customs enforcement. A.V.F.T.B has betrayal as a main theme as their community relies

In an I.C, J.B Priestly uses the theme of socialism that shows that a better society can be created.

Theme: Love

The author may use the theme of love as the underlying idea of their literature piece. Love is a very broad theme that can apply to religion as well as family.
