Tough, though, thought, through, thorough and throughout

Through

It means that something or someone passes from one side to the other side through something, or someone's going to somewhere. In Brazilian Portuguese "através/por". He went through the tunnel. The bullet went through the metal plate. He walked through the door. We made our way through the crowd to get to the car park. We went through São Francisco on the way to Porto Alegre. Other meaning thought the time. I went through a tough time when my dog passed. As we go through the book, we can make notes at the end of each chapter.

Tough

Tough means strong, hard, difficult: Rugby players are tough guys. I went through a tough time when my dog passed. He's a tough person to be around. I'm sorry, this steak is way too tough, could I please have another one?

Throughout

An adverb the means "por completo", "por inteiro", "em sua totalidade" in Brazilian Portuguese. And then, of course, there are bookstores about 25 of them scattered throughout the airport.

Though

As a conjuction, means "apesar de", but as an adverb means "embora/mas/no entanto" in Brazilian Portuguese. It's equivalent to although, but the last one is more formal. They're coming next week, though I don't know which day. Though they were shouting and screaming, nobody could hear them. Especially in the talked English, we can use "tought" as a significant similar to however or nevertheless or but. John: Dude, you're going to have a 12-hour layover at LAX. Mark: Yeah, I don't mind, though. I'll just read a book.

Thought

Past tense of the verb to think. Meaning an idea: I had a thought last night, why don't we go camping next week? Meaning an idea from a thought or opinion: Maggie had a sudden thought. Meaning to think carefully about something or give a special attention to something: John: What are you going to do about your eviction? Mark: I don't know, I haven't given it much thought yet. Meaning that something is on our mind: He's is in our thoughts and prayers.

Thorough

deep, meticulous, careful. In a deep meaning: Surgeons need to have a thorough understanding of human anatomy. In a meticulous meaning: The police made a thorough examination of the crime scene. In a careful meaning: I'm very thorough with my finances.
