Unit 3 Investigating Energy
closed (complete, working) circuit -
a closed conducting circle or loop through which current can flow
electrical energy -
a form of energy produced when electric charges flow through a conductor
light energy -
a form of energy which our eyes can detect
vibration -
a series of small, fast movements back and forth or from side to side
conductor -
a substance or object that allows energy to flow through it easily
insulator -
a substance or object that does not allow energy to flow through it easily
mechanical energy -
energy of motion
sound energy -
energy produced by vibrations
thermal energy -
energy related to the temperature of an object or a substance
open (incomplete, broken) circuit -
if the pathway is broken (burned out bulb, broken buzzer, wire cut, etc.) then electricity cannot continue to flow
energy -
the ability to cause change or do work
