Systolic indicates when left ventricle contracts. Diastolic indicates pressure on the artery wall.

How is blood pressure defined?

Force of blood against artery walls when the heart beats.

What are pre-hypertension and hypertension?

Hypertension is high blood pressure.

What is hypotension and what can can it be caused by?

Hypotension is low blood pressure.
