Who were the Federalists, and what did they believe?
Federalists are supporters of the Constitutions. They wanted a strong federal government to provide protection, maintain order, regulate trade, and guarantee the rights of citizen.
What was the New Jersey Plan, and what did it propose?
It called for a one-house legislature in which each state would have an equal number of votes.
Why was the Magna Carta an important step in the cause of freedom for England?
It limited the monarch;s power. It also granted the right to travel freely, which was extended to all citizens and colonists.
What was the Virginia Plan, and what did it propose?
It proposed a framework for a strong national government with legislative, executive, and judicial branches.
What is the difference between goods and services?
Physical products are goods. Jobs you pay to get done are services.
How does our Congress represent a compromise of these two plans?
The Great Compromise had a bicameral legislature. The House of Representatives would be elected based on state population. In the Senate, each state would have two representatives.
What did John Locke believe the purpose of government should be?
The purpose of government is to protect natural rights (the rights to life, liberty, and property).
What are natural rights?
They're rights people are born with and that no government can take away.

Who were the Anti-Federalists, and what did they believe?
Anti-Federalists opposed the Constitution, fearing a strong central government would endanger people's liberties. They believed the reps. should meet in a location close to the people whose interests they sought to protect.

Congress approves it or doesn't.
What's the difference between a direct democracy and a republic
In a direct democracy the citizens are making their own laws, while in a republic,the citizens choose a few people to make laws on their behalf.
What is the difference between a law and moral?
Laws are rules of society that are enforced by government. Morals are beliefs about what is fair and what is right or wrong.

Ratification or Rejection. 2 ways to ratify: approval by the legislatures of 3/4 of the state; approval by special conventions in 3/4 of the state.
