What happens during the liturgy of word?
1. There are 3 readings, the first reading is from the Old Testament, 2.The 2nd reading is from the New Testament and 3.The 3rd reading is from one of the 4 gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John books in the New Testament. 4. Listen the homily 5. pray the creed
What happens during the Introductory Rites?
1. We gather together as members of the church. 2. We sing an opening song of praise to God. 3. The priest welcomed us as God's people 4. We make the sign of the cross. 5. The priest remind us that we need God's forgiveness. 6. We tell God we are sorry and the priest lead us to a prayer.
What happens during the Liturgy of Eucharist?
1.The altar is prepared for the gifts of bread and wine to the priest and deacon. 2.The priest prayed over the gifts and ask to bless and accept our gifts. 3.We pray the Eucharist prayer- the most important prayer of the Mass 4.We do Communion Rite as we pray together the Lord's prayer, the Our Father.
Introductory Rites
Is the first part of the mass in which we become one as we prepare to listen to God's words and celebrate the Eucharist.
Lent
Is the season of preparation for Easter last 40 days. It begins on Ash Wednesday. On this day we are marked with blessed ashes that are a sign that we are sorry for our sins and possible life with God forever
Real presence
Is when Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist.
Liturgy of the Eucharist
Is when the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, and we receive it during Holy Communion.
White color
is a symbol of light and joy. The priest wear white vestment and the covering of the altar is white
Easter
is the greatest celebration. Jesus has risen from the dead and we celebrate it for 50 days. Begins on Easter Sunday and ends on Pentecost.
Concluding Rites
is the last part of the Mass that reminds us to continue praising and serving God at the end the priest say " Go in Peace", and we respond "Thanks be to God"
Liturgy of the Word
is the part of the Mass when we listen and respond to God's word.
Consecration
is when the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
