Simple

A simple sentence is different from other sentence types because it contains only one independent clause and has no dependent clauses.

Complex Sentence Example:

1) Even though Michael Jordan was a great player, he still practiced his skills daily. 2) Because my coffee was too cold, I heated it up in the microwave. 3) She returned the computer after she noticed it was damaged.

Compound Sentence Example:

1) I went to the beach, and I got sunburned. 2) I didn't study for my test ,so I failed. 3) I didn't brush my teeth ,so I got cavities.

Simple Sentence Example:

1) The girl ran into her bedroom. 2) Canada is a rich country. 3) Some students like to study in the morning.

Compound-Complex Example:

1) When the bell rang, the students ran to their seats, and the teacher began the lesson. 2) Alexis had a headache after the party was over , so Lana cleaned up the house. 3) Jennifer calls Chris when ever she is sad; Chris cheers her up.

Compound

A compound sentence is a sentence with two or more independent clauses and no dependent clauses.

Complex

A sentence with at least one independent clause and one dependent clause

Compound-Complex

Contains more than 1 independent clause and at least one dependent.
