punishment

a stimulus that follows a response that decreases the future probability of that response

differential reinforcement

a procedure involving 2 separate behaviors; one is being reinforced, and one is being put through extinction

reinforces a behavior that is incompatible to the problem behavior and puts the target problem behavior on extinction

differential reinforcement of Alternate behaviors (DRA)

reinforcing an appropriate alternative to the problem behavior and extinguishing the problem behavior through extinction Ex. extinguishing crying, pushing, etc and reinforcing communication

response cost

reinforcing stimulus is removed following the target behavior Ex. if a boy breaks curfew, mom might take away keys

positive punishment

the addition of an aversive stimulus following a behavior that decreases that behavior

extinction

the discontinuation of reinforcement of a behavior that has been reinforced in the past

positive practice overcorrection

the learner is required to practice the correct form of the behavior, or a behavior that is incompatible with the problem behavior, as a result of the problem behavior Ex. running in the halls? Go back to the classroom and walk

extinction bursts

the sudden increase of behavior after extinction is implemented
