Spiritual differences -Although the Methodist revival had stirred much of England, the American revivals were more widespread and their influence longer lasting. It helped many colonist realize that they could only maintain their religious freedom through a system of self rule and through adequate representation in government. Military differences-The colonist had done much of the fighting in the French and Indian war while professional soldiers had only fight for their wages and avoided unnecessary risk the colonist were disappointed in their soldiers performance and realize that they would have to rely on themselves for defense. Economic differences-Because of Americas productive agricultural system the colonies had never experienced famine and we're healthier than Europeans. Americans felt more self-sufficient and began to see themselves as different from those still in great Britain.
