Algebra Terms
Term
Each part of an expression separated by an operation.
Coefficient
A number that does not stand by itself. If is attached to the variable.
Constant
A number that stands alone.
Equation
A statement that two mathematical expressions are equal.
Solution
A value of the variable that makes the equation true.
Variable
A letter or symbol that represents one or more numbers.
Inequality
A mathematical sentence that compares expressions.
Algebraic Expression
A number sentence without an equal sign, has at least one two terms and one operation.
Exponent
Tells how many times a number is used as a factor.
Evaluate
The expression when you perform all the computations.
Base
The number being multiplied repeatedly.
Order of Operations
To evaluate an expression.
Equivalent Expression
Two or more expressions that are equal for any value of the variable in the expressions.
