Associative Property of Addition

The way numbers are grouped when adding does not change the sum. For example: 3 + (4 + 5) = (3 + 4) + 5

A term can be a number, variable, or product of numbers and variables. Each term of an algebraic expression is separated by addition or subtraction. For example: In the expression y + 8- 3x, the terms are y, 8, and -3x.
