Giza

An ancient Egyptian city near the delta of the Nile River in Lower Egypt. During the age of the Old Kingdom, 2700-2181 BCE, the iconic Great Pyramid of Khufu was built near Giza, as well as, the Great Sphinx.

Thebes

Capital city of Egypt and home of the ruling dynasties during the Middle and New Kingdoms. Amon, patron deity of Thebes, became one of the chief gods of Egypt. Monarchs were buried across the river in the Valley of the Kings.

Lower Egypt

Covered the delta region where the Nile empties into the Mediterranean.

Upper Egypt

Fertile strip of land between Lower Nubia and Lower Egypt. This area had farmable land that stretched about 6 miles on each side of the Nile River.

Kemet

Kemet means 'Black Land" It is in the northern region of the Nile River Valley.

Lower Egypt, This is where all of the pyramids are built on the West side of the Nile.

Memphis

The capital of Old Kingdom Egypt, near the head of the Nile Delta. Early rulers were interred in the nearby pyramids. This city began to flourish as a center of government and culture along the Nile. The pharaoh rode a bull around this city.

Upper & Lower Egypt

Upper Egypt conquered Lower Egypt. Lower Egypt is at the top of Egypt and Upper Egypt is at the bottom. The Nile River flows from South to North.
