Defending the Low post
Always attempt to keep your opponent from receiving a pass in good low-post position
Anticipation
Anticipation is knowing tendencies and adjusting to each situation to gain an advantage
Defending weak-side Guard when other guard has ball
Be in open stance at least one step off an imaginary line between your opponent and the basket
Fast break
Beat the zone upcourt and attack it before the defenders get to their zone positions.

Factors of Championship defense
Forcing the dribbler to use the weak hand
Few dribblers can drive with their weak hand as effectively as with their strong hand
Split the Zone
Outside players should move into the gaps or seams of the zone between defenders and within shooting range
Reverse the ball
Pass the ball to make the defense move in one direction, then quickly reverse the ball back (snap-back pass) to the opposite side
Draw and Kick
Penetrate between defenders to draw your teammate's defender to you and create an open passing lane to your teammate

Be a triple threat
Square up the basket and be a threat to score. Make use of shot fakes and pass fakes

Defending ball-side Guard with ball at wing
When you are defending the ball-side guard while the wing has the ball, you can choose from two options, depending on your team's defensive strategy
Strong-side wing Denial Defensive Positioning
When you are off the ball on the strong side, you should work to deny a penetrating pass to a receiver on the wing inside the foul line extended
