What is CPU(Central Processing Unit)?

"The brain" of the computer. Selects instructions, processes them, performs arithmetic& logical comparison and stores results of operation in memory.

What is an Operation System(OS)?

A Program that controls that computer's resources.

How does the main memory relate to the CPU?

CPU reads data and instructions from memory and then stores the results of computations in main memory or RAM(random access memory).

What is a License?

Once you have purchased a computer program you are buying the license to use that program.

What are some of the types of hardware?

PC, tablet, phablet, smartphone, server, serverfarm

What is PC Virtualization?

Personal computer hosts several different operation systems.

What is virtualization?

Process by which one physical computer hosts many different virtual computer within in.

What are Native Applications?

Programs written to use a particular operation system. Thick-client application.

What are the functions of a Operating System?

Read and write data, allocate main memory, perform memory swapping, start/stop programs

What is server Virtualization?

Server computer host one of more other server computer.

What is One-of-a-kind application?

Software is developed for a specific, unique need.

What is an open source?

Software is typically free and modifiable and its source code is publicly available.

What is horizontal-market application?

Software provides capabilities common across all organizations and industries.

What is Vertical-market application?

Software serves the needs of a specific industry.

What is a source code?

Computer code as written by humans and understandable by humans.

What does non-volatile mean?

Magnetic & Optical disks. Content SURVIVES when power off.
