Discuss the contributions that women have made in Science

Rosalin Franklin (1920-1958): - Studied DNA using x-rays - Her X-ray photograph allowed other scientists to work out the structure of DNA Jane Goodall (1934-present): - A primatologist and known for her work with chimpanzees in Tanzania - She discovered that Chimpanzees were capable of throwing stones as weapons, they eat meat, they can use tools Marie Curie (1867-1934): - First female scientist to win a nobel prize in physics and first to receive 2 - She studied radiation and discovered two new elements (polonium and radium) - Also well known for her contribution to fighting against cancer Lise Miethner (1879-1968): - An Australian-Swedish physicist - Along with physicist Otto Hahn, she discovered a new element called protactinium Barbara Mcclintock (1902-1992): - She discovered that genetic information isn't stationary - It took years until her work was seriously considered which eventually resulted in her winning the Nobel prize in medicine.

Describe how the structure of DNA was discovered

The discovery of the structure of DNA had many false starts until the correct structure was discovered in 1953. James Watson and Francis Crick have been credited with the discovery of the structure of DNA. Watson and Crick used an x-ray photograph that Rosalind Franklin took of DNA. With the help of the photograph they discovered the double helix structure of DNA and built the first DNA model including the basic nucleotide unit.

Deduce who should be credited with the discovery of DNA

This is a debatable question. Scientists James Watson and Francis Crick were famously the first to work out the structure of DNA, and Rosaling Franklin and Maurice Wilkins(Franklin's partner) are often credited for capturing the images of the molecule that made this possible.
