A shorthand term that means web log - is a personal online journal that is frequently updated and intended for general public access and use. Most have a commenting system, so that people can respond to and interact with one another. These encourage students to clearly express their ideas and addresses the need to expand various aspects of social learning.
Self and Peer Assessment
A tool designed to facilitate the objective, analytical, and learning comprehension skills of students. It allows students to review the work of fellow students through criteria-based reference evaluation allows constructive feedback to help enhance their comprehension.
Discussions
A tool used to encourage students to think critically about your coursework and interact with each others' ideas. You can create forums and threads around individual course lessons or for your course in general.
Announcements
A tool used to keep your students informed on timely issues in your course.
Assignment
This tool allow you to create coursework and manage the grades and feedback for each student separately. You can include a description, point value, and file attachments. You can respond to each student separately with comments and attached files. Submissions of these can be accessed through the Grade Center.
Assessments
This tool enables you to create tests using a variety of question types. Some question types are scored automatically by the system, such as multiple choice, True/False, matching, and fill in the blank. Other question types, such as essay and short answer, require you to manually grade each student's answer.
Journals
This tool gives students a personal space to communicate privately with their instructor. Students can also use this as a self-reflective tool to post their opinions, ideas, and concerns about the course, or to discuss and analyze course-related materials.
