excelsior or wood wool

a fabric made from flax; noted for its strength, coolness and luster

linen

a type of backing material, pressed paper in sheet form, supports the lining materials, particularly in the areas of the hinge cover and body lining

masselin

a very basic, plain-woven cotton fabric, frequently used in the lining of the Orthodox Jewish casket or "Aaron" and making burial shrouds

muslin

nap

a fabric woven to create a smooth, lustrous face and dull back; most often seen in caskets of lesser quality

satin

shirred

a removable and interchangeable item designed to fit into the casket's cap panel, provides opportunity for personalization

specialty head (or cap) panel

tailored

a type of velvet, lighter in weight, has a slight sheen and is slightly transparent

transport velvet

a style of casket interior created by placing a padding material between a lining material and a backing material, with subsequent stitches taken forming small, raised puffs, usually applied to mid and upper-range caskets

tufted
