What 4 regions make up the lower limb?
Femoral region: extends from hip to knee region, contains the femur and patella Crural region: extends from knee to ankle, contains the medial tibia and lateral fibula Tarsal region: Ankle the union of the crural region and the foot. Tarsal bones are considered part of the foot Pedal region: Foot: composed of 7 tarsal bones, 5 metatarsals, and 14 phalanges in the toes.
What is the Femur?
Largest and stronger bone Greater and lesser trochanter
What is the Fibula?
No weight baring, considered a stabilizer
What is the Patella?
Sesmoid bone and develops in the tendon
What is the Tibia?
Thicker bone, weight baring, tibial tuberosity muscles attach
What is the calcaneus?
largest tarsal bone forms heel
What is the talus?
most superior tarsal bone forms ankle joint with tibia and fibula
