Technology Change
A change in the organization's production process; usually to increase production efficiency
Idea champion
A person who sees the need for and champions productive change within the organization.
3 Types of Problems OD deals with
1. Mergers and acquisitions: often fail because of cultural differences between organizations 2. Organizational decline and revitalization 3. Conflict management
OD (Organizational Development) activities
1. Team building activities (Enhances cohesiveness and success of organizational groups, help to learn/function as a team) 2. Survey-feedback activities (Begins w/ a survey distributed to employees, get feedback, employees are involved in problem solving) 3. Large group interventions (Brings together participants from all parts of the organization to discuss problems/opportunities and plan for change)

Unfreezing (1st stage)
Makes people throughout the organization aware of problems and the need for change. Creates motivation for people to change their attitudes/behavior.
Refreezing (3rd stage)
Occurs when individuals acquire new attitudes or values and are rewarded for them by the organization. Change agent supplies new data that shows positive changes in performance.
Changing (2nd stage)
Occurs when individuals experiment with new behavior and learn new skills to be used in the workplace. Intervention. Change agent implements a specific plan for training managers and employees.
