Chapter 13: The Presidency Critical Thinking
5. Synthesizing Information Admiral George Dewey once said, "the office of President is not such a very difficult one to fill, his duties being mainly to execute the laws of Congress." Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Explain why.
I agree. The president doesn't pertain to many abilities other than a figurehead for the nation.
7. Making Decision At $400,000 a year, the President's salary is far more than that of the average citizen, yet less than the yearly income of many wealthy Americans. Do you think the President is fairly compensated?
I personally believe that is fair compensation. Since the president has everything provided for him he really doesn't need that much money. However he should have a decent salary because he has a very important job.
6. Demonstrating Reasoned Judgement List 5 informal qualifications you think one should have in order to be seriously considered for the presidency. Explain your choices.
Some informal qualifications that a president should have are that they are healthy, good at speaking with groups, a critical thinker, mentally stable, and ethical. These things are all important if you're going to be leading a nation and making an example for them.
