Second of the Progressive presidents. Taft was backed by the popular T.R. which paved the way to an easy victory. He really had no desire to run for the presidency. He was famous for getting stuck in the White House bathtub.
Taft Failures
Taft was not popular like T.R. and had his own way of doing things. He aggressively pursued trusts and broke up more than T.R. He failed to fight for a lower tariff on imports. This left prices on imported goods higher than needed. He changed some of T.R.'s beloved conservation policies
US Forest Service (1905)
