Name some plants and animals that would live in a desert.

- Roadrunner, Sidewinder, coyotes, and cactus.

Name all 6 biospheres

-Tundra -Coniferous forest -Deciduous forest - rain forest -grassland -Desert

what is a habitat?

A place where an organism normally lives.

What are carnivores?

Animals eat other animals.

what are omnivores?

Animals that eat both plants and animals.

Name 6 animals that would live in a coniferous forests.

Deer, elk, bears, wolves, chipmunk, and great horned owl.

what is a food web?

Food chains that overlap within an ecosystem.

Describe Deciduous forests.

Has trees such as oaks, maples, and Hickories. Has cool winters, warm summers, and plentiful rain.

Describe the water cycle.

Heat from the sun evaporates water. After the water has evaporated water it cools forming clouds and eventually falls back to the ground. The rest stays on the surface and collects in lakes, rivers, and oceans. Animals also eat plants that absorbed water through their roots. Then the cycle starts over.

name 3 animals that would live in a rain forests

Jaguar, anaconda, parrot

Name some animals that would live grasslands.

Meadowlark, Prairie dog, Bison, sparrows, and hawks.

describe the carbon dioxide- oxygen cycle.

Plants and animals play a role in the environment. plants take in carbon dioxide from the air. During photosynthesis, plants use the sun's energy to change carbon dioxide and water into food and oxygen. Then the plant release oxygen for plants and living organisms. When organisms decay carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere for plants to photosynthesis.

Name some animals that would live in a freshwater biome.

Raccoon. trout, crayfish, bass, trout, and otters

What are the 5 factors of The Marine Biome?

Salinity, light, oxygen content, temperature, and pressure.

Name some animals that would live in The Marine Biome.

Sea lion, sheep crab, reef shark, cod, and fish.

Name 3 animals that would live in tundra

Snowy owl, Arctic fox, and reindeer.

What is the difference between standing and running water?

Standing water- includes lakes, ponds and swamps. running water- includes creeks, streams, and rivers.

distinguish between biome, biosphere, and ecosystem.

The biosphere is made of the living part of earth. The largest ecosystem are biomes, which can cover large areas. The biosphere is divided into smaller units called ecosystems which living organisms interact with. It extends from the deepest part of the ocean and then goes up into the biosphere.

Describe Deserts.

The desert is the driest biome. It receives as much as 25 cm of rain each year. Some have cool temperatures and some even snow during the winter.

What is an environment?

The interaction of plants and animals that live on Earth's biosphere.

(essay) How does nitrogen cycle through the environment?

The nitrogen cycle works like this, their are some plants that have a special type of bacteria that sucks up nitrogen. Nitrogen can also go in animals from the food they eat. Nitrogen later returns in the soil after plants and animals die. In animal waste nitrogen also occurs. When lighting occurs it releases nitrogen in the soil.

Describe freshwater biomes.

This biome is classed as either standing water or running water.

What is the difference between tropical and temperate rain forests?

Tropical- is found near the equator, because of its thick vegetation their are many tree dwellers. Temperate- Covers most of coastal regions of western North America. There are many Redwoods and firs.

Describe Tundra

Tundra has a cold, dry climate and has permafrost. Tundra has short vegetation and no trees. Plants such as lichens, mosses, and grasses are in tundra.

Name the 8 types of biomes`

Tundra, coniferous forest, Deciduous forests, Rain forests, Deserts, Grasslands, Marine biomes, and freshwater biomes.

Name 3 animals that would live in a deciduous forests.

White tale deer, red fox, cardinal

describe tundra?

a cold, dry climate, and has permafrost.

What is a limiting factor?

a factor that keeps the populations from getting to large.

what is a community?

a group of plants and animals that live in a specific animal.

What is Permafrost

a permanently frozen layer of soil

what is permafrost?

a permanently frozen layer of soil.

describe the weather in coniferous forests?

adequate rainfall, and in some areas heavy snow?

What is a Biosphere

all life that exist in a narrow zone.

What is a succession?

an important process in the environment.

what is a niche?

an organism's role in the ecosystem, or how the organism makes its living.

What is a herbivore?

animals that eat only plants.

what are scavengers?

animals that feed on dead or dying animals.

what are prey?

animals that kill.

Name some animals/ organisms that are decomposers.

bacteria, fungi, worms, and insects.

what is the smallest ecosystem.

biomes.

name 3 animals that would live in a coniferous forests?

brown bear, chipmunk, Great horned owl

Describe Grasslands.

covers much of central North America. Has trees mostly around rivers, creeks, and lakes. Most farming takes place in grasslands.

Name some animals that are Herbivores.

gophers, deer, cattle, and sheep.

What is a population?

groups of plants or animals of the same species.

Describe deciduous forests.

has many trees that loose their trees in fall. Trees including oaks, maples and hickories.

Describe Coniferous Forests

has trees such as pines, spruces, and firs. The climate is less harsh than tundra. It revives adequate rainfall and in some areas heavy snow.

Describe the Marine Biome.

it covers about 70% of Earths surface. As the depth of water increases, light and temperature decrease.

describe a coniferous forests?

it is composed of cone bearing trees such as pines and spruces and firs.

describe a rainforests.

it receive frequent heavy rainfall, and has abundant plant growth.

Name some animals that are carnivores,

lions, wolves, sharks, and vultures.

What are decomposers?

organisms that break down the remains of dead plants and animals.

Name some animals that are omnivores.

pigs, bears, opossums, and humans.

Rain forests

receives heavy rainfall and has abundant plant growth. Has two types of Rain forests both tropical and temperate.

what is a ecosystem?

scientists divide the biosphere into smaller units.

name 3 animals that would live in tundra?

snowy owl, Arctic fox, and reindeer

(essay) Explain what succession is and give an example?

succession is a sequence in which one community is replaced by another. An example of succession are rocks. when rocks are exposed to weather it begins to decompose its surface. Organisms begin to grow on it, and produces acids that creates further decomposition, such as moss ferns and grass grows on it and soon turns into soil.

what are the 4 factors for freshwater biomes.

temperature, oxygen, current, and dissolved minerals.

What is salinity?

the amount of salt in water

What is ecology?

the study of the interaction between organisms and their environment.

what is a food chain?

the transfer of food energy from one organism to another.

name two types of rain forests

tropical and temperate.

describe tropical and temperate rainfall

tropical- is near the equator because of its thick equator. temperate- covers most of costal region of western North America.
