Chp3L2
Multicellular or Unicellular? An organisms that consists of cells
Both
What is cell differentiation? Why is it important?
Cell differentiation is a process is which a specialized cell becomes a more specialized cell. It is important because it offers a cell more functions.
List the four main types of tissues in humans and describe them.
Connective, muscle, nervous, epithelial. Muscle causes movement, connective provides structural support, nervous carries messages to and from the brain, epithelial forms the protective outer layer of the skin and the lining of major organs in internal body cavities.
List the three main types of tissues in plants and describe the function.
Dermal, vascular, and ground. Dermal tissues provides protection and helps reduce water loss. Vascular transports water and nutrients from one part of a plant to another. Ground provides storage and support and is where photosynthesis takes place.
How are a multicellular organism and unicellular organism different?
Multicellular organisms are made up of multiple cells; unicellular organisms are only one cell.
Compare a prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell.
Prokaryotes do not have membrane-bound organelles.
Why do the stomach and a leaf have in common?
They are both organs.
What do a human's circulatory system and a plant's shoot system have in common?
They both transport things throughout the organism
How was unicellular and multicellular organisms the same?
They have at least one cell.
Why do multicellular organisms have more than one organ system?
They have more cells
Why are stem cells in an embryo important?
They help the organism develop.
Why are stem cells necessary for cell differentiation?
They perform cell functions.
Why are adult stem cells important?
They replace and repair damaged stem cells.
Where are adult stem cells located in humans?
bone narrow
What is the process by which cells become different types of cells?
cell differentiation
What makes up cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems?
cells
What are unspecialized cells in plants called?
meristem
Multicellular or Unicellular? Cells are specialized and perform specific functions.

Multicellular or Unicellular? Each cell must carry out life processes
unicellular
Multicellular or Unicellular? These organisms can be prokaryotes or eukaryotes
unicellular
stem cell
unspecialized cell that is able to develop into a different type of cell
