~ Mountains cover nearly all of Japan. only 20% of the land is flat.

3a. How did Prince Shotoku help spread Buddhism in Japan?

~ Prince Shotoku helped spread Buddhism throughout Japan by building a Buddhist temple and writing about Buddhist teachings.

b. How did Japan's location separate it from and tie it to China and Korea?

~ The Japanese location separated it from China and Korea because they were able to have their own religion and society. On the other hand, it tied them together by China and Korea being influenced by their culture.

~ The Shinto is a traditional Japanese religion.

b. What do you think was the most important idea the Japanese borrowed from China?

~ The most important idea the Japanese borrowed from China was Confucianism because it taught them a new and better way of life and how to live that way.

b. How did Yamato rulers gain power?

~ Yamoto rulers gained power by having an army conquer the cities. By the 500's, Yamoto rulers had extended their control over Honshu.
