Channel (of communication)

A medium through which a message is transmitted to its intended audience, such as print media or broadcast (electronic) media.

Receiver

The listener, reader, or observer in the communication process. Another name is audience.

Noise

any type of disruption that interferes with the transmission or interpretation of information from the sender to the receiver.

Encoding

process of transferring the information you want to communicate into a form that can be sent and correctly decoded at the other end.

Process

the guide toward realizing effective communication. It is through the communication process that the sharing of a common meaning between the sender and the receiver takes place.

Sender

the individual who initiates a message. Also called the communicator or source.

Message

the information conveyed by (a) words (in speech or writing), and/or (b) other signs and symbols.

Interpersonal Communication

the process by which people exchange information, feelings, and meaning through verbal and non-verbal messages: it is face-to-face communication.

Feedback

The response of an audience to a message or activity. It can be conveyed both verbally and non-verbally.

Decoding

interpreting the meaning of the message according to their own mentality and experience.

Credibility

defined as the objective and subjective components of the believability of a source or message.

Selective Interpretation

form of bias that causes people to perceive messages and actions according to their frame of reference. people tend to overlook or forget information that contradicts their beliefs or expectations.

Intrapersonal Communication

takes place within one person. The purpose of clarifying ideas or analyzing a situation.
