Object

-an independent element that you can modify -everything you draw in Corel Draw is this

Standard Toolbar

-provides quick access to common Windows commands, such as New, Open, Save, and Print -includes CorelDraw commands, such as Import, Export, and Zoom

Path

-the outside perimeter of an object -can be open or closed -run through nodes

Nodes

-the squares through which paths pass -can be manipulated with the Shape Tool

Handles

-these are the eight black squares that appear around any selected object -you use these to change an object's dimensions or shape

Outline

-this line represents the path -can be colored or visible

Dockers

Each is related to a specific command or purpose, such as setting object properties, extruding, scaling, or contouring

Guidelines

use these non-printing, user-placed horizontal, vertical, or slanted guides to align an object

Ungroup

use this command to restore a previously grouped set of objects to the original objects

Color Palette

use to add fill and outline colors to objects

Scroll Bars

use to navigate around the drawing window

Marquee Select

using the Pick or Shape Tool, you can click and drag to create a dashed rectangle surrounding (and selecting) a group of objects or nodes

Menu Bar

click any menu title (such as File or Edit) to choose commands

Toolbox

contains drawing and editing tools

Title Bar

displays the program name and name/location of the active document

Drop-Down Lists

presents a selection of items from which to choose

Stacking Order

- this is the sequence in which objects are drawn - the first object drawn is at the bottom of the stack, while the last is on top

Page Flipper (A) and Page Tabs (B)

- use to add pages to a document, switch to another page, or move to the beginning or end of the document - click any tab to switch to that page

Select

-To ______ objects, click them with the Pick Tool -To ______ nodes, click them with the Shape Tool

Multiple Select

Press SHIFT while clicking to select multiple objects or nodes.

You can draw anywhere you want in the drawing window, but anything drawn outside of the page border won't be printed.

Fill

a color, pattern, texture, or foundation added to the inside of an object

Foundation Fill

a gradual blend from one color to another or a cascade of different colors added to the inside of an object

Nested Group

a grouping of two or more groups that behaves as a single object

Group

a set of combined objects that can be moved or modified as a single object

Properties

an object's attributes, such as fill color, size, and shape

Status Bar

shows the position of the mouse pointer, lists keyboard shortcuts, and displays object information, such as size, position, and fills color

Control Points

the handles that you use to shape a line segment

Line Segment

the portion of a path between two nodes

Layer

this is the transparent plane on which objects in a drawing are placed
